Today is my birthday! yea...words can't explain how grateful I am to God for the gift of life. This year came with it's own challenges and high points but It's being a year that's being worth it for me because God always comes through for me and for this, I celebrate the goodness of God in my life. ....Happy birthday sis! So on this special day, I'll like to share a chapter of my life with you which prompted the book SET YOURSELF FREE, a life changing gift from me to you.
Growing up as a child, I had big dreams and still do. I wanted a quality of life that was beyond just having money. I wanted to live a wealthy life that was full of rich experiences, quality friendships and have an
authentic lifestyle that was enriching, purposeful, sold out to God, emulative and with financial
abundance to explore life and be the most awesome version of myself. That's not too much to ask from life I guess. My reality was to have a great and fulfilling life that reflected all that God wanted me to be
I remember few years ago, precisely 2014 as I sat in my cozy room at my apartment in Reading, UK. I wrote a letter to my self which I shared in the book. At that time, I felt I was held down by my fears, people’s opinion and everything within me that won’t let the eagle in me fly. To be honest, I cannot clearly remember the scenario but one thing I knew was that I was holding back and needed to release myself to manifest! I had taken a long stroll and silenced the things that mattered to me.
Three years after, I’m living the life I love with awesome relationships, an authentic life that I enjoy with God as my source, the love of my life, running my own business and loving my dream job. It all didn’t happen just like that. It started with me understanding the place of God being my source and most important in my life, one of the non–negotiable values that I would not trade for anything in this world and other things of which I would be sharing a bit in the book. I want you to start the journey just like I did years ago but it starts with you taking the time to access wisdom and taking that leap of faith to get to where God wants you to be.
So the book SET YOURSELF FREE was written with you in mind, so you can give yourself the permission to go after the things that matter to you, don’t be afraid to explore, don’t hold back to the possibilities of your gifts and who you can become.
I hope this book would be the gift that would inspire you to take responsibility for your life and give yourself a chance to not only dream big but experience the best of life. So let’s get started. I’ll be taking you
on a 28 day journey filled with advice on how to set yourself free as you truly follow your life’s calling
and prepare yourself to have and live the wealthy life. It’s going to be fun, intriguing and insightful!
Thanks to family, awesome friends and fans that have being here all the way! God bless you all.
When I look at this picture, I took three years ago, it reminds me of a lot of things. After a very funny experience, sleeping in a sitting room of a cottage in UK with one of my sweet and amazing friend Omalicha...and our hustle and bustle mixed with favour the next morning at the university's gym as I got ready to travel to USA for my friend's wedding.
In the midst of your helpless times, God always sends angels. I really appreciate Ene and one of the families at Porter's house for their amazing support.
I just planned to enjoy the trip to Georgia, have as much food as I could and also watch a lot of movies. It was British Airways, you can imagine..it was one of my best trips ever...so loooved the BA experience, unforgettable it was.
It was not as cold as I thought it would be, that was relieving. This amazing friend of mine, Tolu was at the airport to pick me up. I met Tolu in church at one of our services back in Nigeria. On seeing her, I knew she was different. She had an aura of grace around her and she is frankly one of the most cultured, decent, intelligent and disciplined woman I know. She is also very God fearing. So we got talking and I invited her over to my house, we talked about God, faith, marriage and life in general as well as our future plans. It was like I had known her for five years. As the host, I gave her a treat of my favourite wine and fried turkey.
She later told me, she would be travelling for her masters and kinda heard too she would be getting married soon. We kept in touch while she travelled to US and while I traveled to UK. I told her, I would come for her wedding. Little did I know that the words we speak have a way of being tangible and by God's grace, I was there.
She took really good care of me during my short stay at Georgia and went the extra mile before I traveled to Maryland. The family I stayed with and her husband, awesome people...plus giving me the opportunity to listen to their love story. This picture was taken on the first Sunday after her wedding. Thanks Tolu for being an amazing person and God bless your family. Keep shining!
We are still friends till today but most importantly I learnt that when we connect with the right people and make an effort to reach out to people we admire and invest in true friendship as well as be a true friend. It has a way of changing your life in a positive way and bringing you bigger, better and awesome opportunities plus sweet memories you never ever imagined.
So was just in my office this morning o...and all of a sudden, Google sent me a notification.
I was reluctant at first to check it but I kinda changed my mind in a split second and what did I see ....a picture I took four years ago on the 13th of July, 2013 at an event organized by Sam O Salau. It was my third or so speaking engagement after my NYSC. Guess how I felt when I saw the pic.. I was surprised, I smiled and then I laughed...a laughter of gratitude and as usual said what people would normally say 'how time flies'.
I must say thank God for my journey so far. It's been so enjoyable and worthwhile and it can only get better.
Thanks Sam O. Salau for this opportunity you gave me four years ago. I'm grateful. Thanks to all the amazing people that have influenced my life positively and contributed to where I am today and thanks to those who will also contribute to my tomorrow. Thanks and God bless you all.
If you know me too well, I don't take gratitude for granted. Its one of the values that have traveled with me through life and is one of my success secret. I even keep a gratitude diary.
So feel free to check out your own history and picture gallery, find out what you were doing on the 13th of July, 2013 and post your own #throwbackstory.
Enjoy your day!
So many people know about my first book, the Journey of a Higher Life , published first in Nigeria and two years later, a revised one was published in UK, but they do not know the story behind the book. I was divinely instructed to write the book after I passed through three painful years of my life. I would say, it was painful but gainful at the end.
I never planned to be a writer and I remember thinking to myself, 'who would ever publish this book ..'It's a Christian genre'. 'I am not a pastor neither am I a pastor's daughter'. 'Was I qualified to write a Christian book' were thoughts that garnered my mind at that time. I remember my publisher telling me 'that I should forget about publishing the book and publish something else in another genre' and his partner convincing him that it was a good one, he believed in it and they should publish it.
As a corper in the northern part of Nigeria, I had to come back to Lagos and planned the Book Launch, made all the preparations for the final book editing and printing within two weeks.
A day to the book launch, I remember my Dad sitting on the dining chair at the sitting room in my brother's house asking 'where is the book you said you wrote' ...obviously it was a day to the book launch and the book wasn't yet ready.
On Nov 4th, 2012....The Journey of a Higher Life was launched, an event that changed my life significantly and my life's story.
In few weeks, I would be launching the audio book of the Journey of a Higher Life. The story behind the book is a walk to remember.
I'm specially inviting you to join me at the Lagos Christian Book Chat Meet Up as I share about the story behind the book, writing and publishing tips and much more. As the year draws closer to its end, I decided to look back at my life and share some of the exciting and adventurous things I did in 2015 and the lessons I learnt. First of all, I want to deeply than God for an amazing and supernatural year. I feel very spoilt by God. Everyday has been a miracle day for me, like seriously. God is the reason I am alive and I am where I am today, It's all because of Him and of course a big thank you to YOU for reading my blog and supporting me. I appreciate plenty plenty. I'll leave you to enjoy my pic story.
CANOEING WITH FRIENDS
I had a really amazing time at PGL in UK. it was my first time canoeing, My friends and I didn't take any practical class on canoeing. But as usual, I was determined to paddle all the way. After few times trying to get the trick behind it. I finally got it and my canoe partner and I won most of the games we played with other teams , like canoe racing, catching the ball. It was all fun and laughter but also learnt a lot about team work and the fact that if you're really determined, you can learn anything you want.*smiles.
THE MASSAGE OF A LIFE TIME
I've been pretty busy this year. I've always wanted to have a massage, but never had the time to do it. One day, when I knew I couldn't take it any longer, because of the stress. I booked a physiotherapy session with a lady, Ify at home and took a day off.
My conversations with her
Me: Ouch, this is so painful, i thought it was supposed to be soothing
Ify: You have a lot of stress lumps, that's why. I'll have to massage it so it can dissolve.
Me: Shocked, i managed to reply ''I guess it's because I used to be an athlete.''
Ify: It's necessary to have massage often as it helps in reducing stress and aging symptoms, relaxing the muscles, helps you to be more active physically and keeps you healthy.
Me: Thanks. wow! didn't know that. I'll consider doing it often.
I was glad I finally took out time to do the massage, Though it was painful at first but rewarding as I felt lighter and better after few days. It's almost like part of my #Dare2do for the year. I'll like to recommend that you take out some time and try out a massage. You can call Ify on 07034550768 for a refreshing massage, treat yourself or a loved one. I learnt that it's important to take out time to take care of your health, you'll reap the benefits now and in the future.
THE WEDDING ROAD TRIP
I've always been in love with road trips. It was a refreshing time for me on a road trip from Lagos to Akure in Ondo state. Nigeria; as I travelled to grace my dearest friend's wedding -kester. I met a lot of amazing people from Germany and Nigeria whom I'm still friends with till today. Dorcas, Domain, Vicky, Toba, Emeka, Glory, Angela,Was-nee, Toba and others.
One thing, that really surprised me about my friend, was that on His wedding night, he brought together all his friends and we had discussions on how we could play a part in solving the issues in Nigeria and we shared & prayed to wrap up the day's activities. What he did, not only inspired me but really got me thinking about how many people would do that on their wedding day. I knew it was a very selfless act and I believe it's one of the attributes of any great person. It pays to be live a selfless life. *Lovely coupl
Today is my Birthday, Yeah! I thank God for life. I'm totally grateful for His goodness and wonders in my life. I was inspired to do this feature just for you, yea! you because you're special. I hope this blesses you and you have so much fun reading it as I had fun writing it. Thanks for being there all this while on TLWO.
One supernatural factor that has made me who I am today
One decision I made that I’m totally grateful for
Going to Business School.
One unforgettable family experience this year
My cousin's wedding at Port-Harcourt (my brother, sister, most of my aunties and cousins, we were together at home for days with my lovely parents)-enough things to eat and gist about.
One personal goal of mine I achieved
Launching my own personal blog/site and the Girls Deserve project plus the Truekolours Hub site makeover.
One question that I always ask myself
How can I be more than I already am and create wealth in order to be a blessing to more people?
One opportunity that I would never forget
Participating in the Next Titans Reality TV show. It was God’s favour and determination that qualified me for a spot in the Top 50.
One funny thing I noticed being a year older
I realized that my pictures are kinda looking older, totally forgot that this would eventually come. I kinda miss some of my pic looks, but I plan to take lots of pics now for keeps for the future. Lol!
One conference that changed my life positively
True Living Conference 2016, It helped me realize how much I needed to stand up for my happiness and the fact that It was my responsibility to do so.
One thing I’m most grateful for
Life (In all ramifications)-the salvation of my soul, still getting to know God more, my amazing sister, my sweet brother, my one in a million mum, my lovely dad. My mentor and all my friends, all the jewels on the true jewels hang out, TLC 2016 Team, supporters and volunteers. Everyone that I have met this year that has been a blessing to me whether personally or by reading their books, the church and all the great men of God I tap grace and wisdom from Pastor Paul & Becky Eneche, Pastor Umoru, Pastor Ojo, Pastor Kumuyi and many others.
One phrase that has been a contributing factor to my success
Do it anyways.
One habit that has helped me so far
Promptness and pro-activeness in spotting and taking hold of opportunities.
One bucket list achievment
Being a part of a reality TV show.
One personal success advice for young people
Decide specifically and precisely what you really want from life, then desire it enough to make worthy sacrifices and make extra effort to work on it until it becomes a reality.
One value that I have stuck to all these years
I seek to give my best in all I do as I ensure that it’s only the best work that I permit myself to put out.
One relationship advice for young people
Hmm…marry for purpose and with purpose; don’t enter into a relationship with someone that you’re not proud of and don’t stay in a relationship that you’re not proud of.
One book I read that has improved my leadership ability
The 360 degree leader by John Maxwell.
One emotional advice for young people
Live a life of gratitude, learn to intentionally enjoy what you have and the people in your life in each phase; it has a way of making you appreciate the beauty of life.
One spiritual advice for young people
Seek God, seek His presence, seek His kingdom, seek His word for you above all your seeking. Because when you have access to His hidden treasure, you access truth by revelation which brings about light and direction; that’s what makes you go farther and faster in life cause you can’t leave where you are until you know what to do.
One quote I heard this year that transformed my life
‘’If you want to move in life, get anointed; if you want to keep moving, stay anointed.’
- Pastor Paul Eneche
One money advice for young people who want to retire early and wealthy
Invest your income, don’t buy liabilities; buy, build and create assets that generate cash flow. Keep at it until you can generate enough cash flow to cover your monthly expenses separate from your income.
One business advice that they won’t teach you in business school
If you want to start your business; start now, start small but start well. Ensure the business idea meets a need, solves a problem for you and your target market as well as creates a larger impact in the society.
One most important lesson I learnt this year
Plan and prepare ahead for the future that you see before it arrives, because most times the future will arrive unannounced.
One essential thing I want you to know
No matter where you are right now, remember that things can be better if you would live a life of ‘’More than ever before’’. More than ever before love God, study your Bible, fear God, praise God, reverence God, be submissive to God. More than ever before make more effort to connect to the right people, think bigger, grow your business, do things differently from the way you used to do them to get a different result. More than ever before give more time to building yourself and giving your best to life and your assignment. It would surely pay off in the long run.
Thanks for going through a piece of my life.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to leave your comment and follow me on any of the social media platforms. Thanks a lot.
